Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon: What is different?

Tata Motors unveiled the new Curvv today and announced that the launch of the new offerings will take place on 7 August. The crossover coupe will be available in petrol, diesel, and all-electric forms. Since the Curvv will enter the compact SUV segment to go against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos, it will sit between the Nexon and Harrier in the brand's line-up. And here we tell you how the upcoming Curvv sets itself apart from the Nexon.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon: Powertrain

The headline highlight of the Curvv will likely to be the new 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 125PS and 225Nm of torque. This motor could be mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, there will be a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder diesel unit that makes 115PS and 260Nm of torque. It is expected to be offered with a six-speed manual and an automatic transmission. On the flip side, the Curvv EV may become available in battery pack choices like the Nexon EV and Punch EV. However, it will likely to benefit from a larger battery pack paired with a single-motor setup with a range of around 480-520km.

In contrast, the Nexon gets a 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine generating 120PS and 170Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor that makes 115PS and 260Nm of torque. Alongside a six-speed manual and an AMT, the petrol engine can be had with a new a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission with shift-by-wire system, while diesel motor is offered with a six-speed manual or an AMT.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon: Design

In terms of design, the Curvv takes inspiration from the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari and is also the first crossover coupe model in the segment. It features a full-length LED bar at the front and rear, vertically stacked LED headlamps, chunky wheel cladding, flush door handles, slanting roofline, sleek taillamp, and a rear spoiler adjoining the roof. To separate the ICE and EV models, Tata has given them different alloy wheels.

The Nexon boasts a distinctive front and rear end design except for the headlamps and reverse lights. The petrol/diesel version does not get a light strip running across its width, but the Nexon EV comes with a connected light at the front.

Tata Curvv vs Tata Nexon: Interior

The Nexon facelift brought a host of changes to the interior and features and the Harrier and Safari also carry over more or less the same equipment as the Nexon. These features could come to the Curvv along with a handful of additions.

We expect the Curvv to feature a new interior layout compared to the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. But it could also borrow some traits from its siblings, such as the steering wheel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, Range Rover-inspired drive selector, and ambient lighting, among others.

It may come with features similar to its siblings, such as leatherette seats, paddle shifters, illuminated Tata logo on the steering, capacitive touch panel for temperature control, connected car tech, telematics, ventilated seats, third-party app support, 360deg camera, auto headlamps and wipers, welcome and goodbye functions for lights, puddle lamps, front and rear parking sensors, 45W Type-C charging port, cooled glove box, wireless charging pad, blind sport monitor, air purifier, ESP, six airbags, hill descent control, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system, among others.
