Tata Motors unveil the compact yet capable Tata Punch, bookings commence from Rs 21,000

Tata has officially unveiled the all-new Tata Punch, a bold and exciting SUV that though may look small, is a very capable off-roader as per Tata. Bookings for the Tata Punch have commenced and one can book their very own Punch at Rs 21,000 at their nearest Tata dealership.

Tata calls the Punch a 'No compromise SUV' with Bold and Stunning design, Premium and Spacious interiors that offers the agility of a hatch with the DNA of an SUV.

The new Tata Punch has a split headlight design, just like we see on the Tata Harrier, with the LED DRLs in the upper section and the halogen projector headlamp in the lower one. Dual-tone bumpers, fog lights, 16-inch dual-tone alloy rims, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, stylish Roof Rails 90-degree opening doors and LED tail lights are among the design features available.

The Tata Punch's rear portion continues the Harrier-inspired design of the rest of the SUV. So there's a sculpted boot lid and a similarly rakish rear windshield that extends from the broad C-pillar. The distinctive squarish tail lights with tri-arrow LED patterns, along with a large bumper and some unusual boxed reflectors give the back of this car a very neat fit.

The only engine choice for the Tata Punch in 2021 will be a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that generates 86PS and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. This powerplant will be mated to either a five-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The traction pro mode will be available only on AMT versions.

The Tata Punch will be offered in four variants including Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative.

The Punch shares its ALFA architecture with the Altroz and unsurprisingly many of the hatchback's interior fitments have been carried over here. The Tata Punch will have a dual-tone interior theme, a seven-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch instrument cluster from the Altroz, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls and rectangular AC vents with contrast coloured vents.

Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a seat belt reminder system, a speed warning system, brake sway control, a reverse parking camera and a tyre puncture repair kit are all standard safety equipment on the Punch.

The Tata Punch will compete against rivals such as the Mahindra KUV100 and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis as well as the upcoming Hyundai Casper. Pricing for the new car is expected to start from Rs 5 lakh and a top of the range model should exceed Rs 8 lakh.
