Tata Motors to launch Tiago and Tigor CNG automatic variants?
Tata Motors has teased new variations of the Tiago and Tigor CNG siblings ahead of their arrival, which might be in the coming weeks. From the hints they have dropped on their social media platform, we assume they will be launching the first-ever CNG automatic cars in India.
While Tata has yet to announce the sort of automatic transmission it would provide with the CNG models of the Tiago and Tigor, it is anticipated to be a 5-speed AMT based on the existing powerplant and transmission lineup for these two vehicles.
For reference, the Tiago and Tigor both have a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 86PS and 113Nm paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The CNG models of both cars have a decreased power of 73.5PS and 95Nm and are currently only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Both models already use Tata Motors' twin-cylinder technology that permits more boot space.
We anticipate this combination to be offered only with the top-end XT and XZ+ variants. So we don't expect any updates in the feature department. So that means the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, an engine start-stop button, and a cooled glovebox will all be carried over.
The Tiago CNG is currently priced from Rs 6.55 lakh to Rs 8.10 lakh, while the Tigor CNG ranges from Rs 7.80 lakh to 8.95 lakh. With the inclusion of an automatic transmission, expect there to be a premium of at least Rs 50,000 over the current price.
