Tata Motors announced today that the Nexon EV has surpassed a new sales milestone of 50,000 units. The Nexon EV was initially announced in January 2020 and is now only available in Prime and Max configurations. The Tata Nexon EV range starts from Rs 14.95 lakh and rises all the way up to Rs 19.54 lakh.

The Nexon EV, according to Tata Motors, contributes up to 15 percent of overall Nexon sales. The EV is now accessible in over 500 Indian cities.

Tata's Nexon EV Prime is powered by a 30.2kWh battery pack, while the Nexon EV Max comes with a 40.5kWh unit. The battery packs on both versions are coupled to a single electric motor that makes 129PS/245Nm and 143PS/250Nm. The former promises a range of 312km, whereas the latter has a range of 437km. However, the Nexon EV Max will now benefit from an extended range of 453km via a software update.

Both variants include IP67-rated batteries and come with either a 3.3kW or a 7.2kW charger. The EV Prime can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes with a DC fast charger, while the EV Max can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 56 minutes with a 50kW DC fast charger.

Tata Motors has recently updated the EV with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen in the XZ+ Lux and EV Max Dark trims. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, an enhanced reverse camera, and an integrated voice assistant are among the highlights of this new entertainment system. Other EV variations receive the older, 7-inch touchscreen, and both infotainment systems come with an 8-speaker system.

Commenting on this milestone, Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, "The Nexon EV was introduced as India's own electric SUV with the aim of offering a cool, stylish, practical and real-world solution for faster EV adoption in India. The Nexon EV customers have grown to 50K in just 3 years. This is a testament to how India has embraced EVs as the mobility of the current times. We would like to thank the early adopters, who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and in-turn allowed the EV ecosystem to build and become what it is now. We hope more people experience the promise of an EV and evolve to electric."
