Tata Punch EV: Powertrain and Charging
The Punch EV is offered in two battery pack versions - Medium Range and Long Range. The former is equipped with a 25kWh battery pack unit with an MIDC driving range of up to 315km. The medium-range car puts down 82PS and 114Nm of torque while the LR variant produces 122PS and 190Nm of torque. With a larger 35kWh battery pack and a driving range of 421km, the long-range car will most definitely be the more desirable of the two powertrains.
There are two charging options available: a 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. The Punch EV supports DC fast charging and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 56 minutes with a 50kW DC fast charger.
Tata Punch EV: Design
On the exterior, the Punch EV has a similar silhouette to its ICE sibling. However, it shares a few design characteristics with the Nexon EV, such as a full-width LED light bar in the front with a blanked-off grille and a vertical slat patterned grille with split LED headlights. Also, the Punch EV's charging flap is positioned in the front and has a motorized opening/closing mechanism.
The remainder of the car such as the side profile receives new alloy wheels, while the rear receives only a slightly tweaked bumper and, of course, the 'EV' badging.
Tata Punch EV: Interior and Features
The Tata Punch EV's interior is noticeably more luxurious than its ICE predecessor, featuring a redesigned dashboard design and dual 10.25-inch displays for infotainment and digital instrument display. Lower-end EVs come with a smaller, 7-inch infotainment panel.
In terms of features, the EV offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata emblem, a new HVAC panel with touch-sensitive controls, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, cabin air purifier, automatic climate control, a jewelled gear selection dial, an electronic parking brake, a blind spot monitor, and a 360-degree surround camera. Safety features on the Punch EV include six airbags (as standard), ABS and ESC, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors and more.
Tata Punch EV: Rivals
The Tata Punch EV will compete directly against the Citroen eC3. It will also be an SUV alternative to its own siblings such as the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor EVs as well as the MG Comet.
