Tata Punch EV vs Rivals: Price and Spec comparison

Tata Motors has officially published the prices for the Punch EV. The electric Punch does face a little bit of competition in the EV space that it will try to capture. So, let's take a look at how the new EV on the block goes up against the likes of the Citroen eC3, MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV.

Tata Punch EV: Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 14.49 lakh

The Punch EV is available in two battery pack versions - Medium and Long Range. The former has a 25kWh battery pack unit with an MIDC driving range of up to 315km. The medium-range car puts down 82PS and 114Nm of torque while the LR variant produces 122PS and 190Nm. The LR trim has a larger 35kWh battery pack and a driving range of 421km. The Punch EV supports DC fast charging and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 56 minutes with a 50kW DC fast charger.

Citroen eC3: Rs 11.61 lakh to Rs 13 lakh

The Citroen eC3 uses a 29.2 kWh lithium ferrous phosphate battery that is good for a 320 km ARAI range figure. The eC3 can DC fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in 57 minutes, AC charge at 3.3 kWh and charge from a 15A home socket in 10.5 hours. The Citroen eC3 is powered by a 57PS and 143Nm electric motor.

MG Comet EV: Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 10.63 lakh

Powering the MG Comet is a 17.3kWh battery pack that provides an ARAI-certified driving range of 230km. The power output of the electric motor paired with the battery pack is rated at 42PS and 110Nm of torque. It takes the Comet 5.5 hours to charge from 0 to 80 percent with a 3.3kW charger.

Tata Tiago EV: Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 12.04 lakh

The Tata Tiago EV gets two battery and range options. The Tiago EV uses the firm's Ziptron high-voltage electric architecture in a larger 24 kWh capacity to return an MIDC-certified range of 314 km. A smaller 19.2 kWh liquid-cooled battery returns 250 km of range. The battery pack is weather and impact-resistant and carries an 8-year and 1.6 lakh km warranty. The larger pack returns 75PS and 114 Nm, the smaller one makes 61PS and 104 Nm.

Tata Punch EV: Features

In terms of features, the Punch EV offers dual 10.25-inch displays for infotainment and digital instrument display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata emblem, a new HVAC panel with touch-sensitive controls, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, cabin air purifier, automatic climate control, a jewelled gear selection dial, an electronic parking brake, a blind spot monitor, and a 360-degree surround camera. Safety features on the Punch EV include six airbags (as standard), ABS and ESC, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors and more.

Citroen eC3: Features

Inside, the Citroen eC3 hatchback comes equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital driver's display, steering-mounted controls, a height-adjustable driver seat, and four speakers. Safety features include ABS, reverse parking sensors and twin airbags are all required components of the safety kit

MG Comet EV: Features

Step inside, and the Comet has a relatively welcoming cabin with a dual 10.25-inch screen setup taking centre stage. The two-spoke steering wheel is a neat touch and it also features some controls inspired by the Apple iPod to make your journey a little easier. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, over 55 connected car features, push pedal start, a digital key, power windows, a grey interior theme and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Safety features include twin front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control (ESC), a seat-belt reminder system, a speed alert system and TPMS.

Tata Tiago EV: Features

The Tiago EV has a height-adjustable driver seat, automatic temperature control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as flat-bottom steering wheels with mounted controls. It includes a rearview camera with parking sensors, electric auto fold ORVMs, powered boot opening, multi-drive modes, cruise control, a cooled glovebox, 45 ZConnect features with smartwatch compatibility, four speakers, four tweeters, leatherette seat upholstery, TPMS, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. It also has dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
