Tata Punch to receive facelift only in 2025!

The Tata Punch, which was introduced in October 2021, is long overdue for an upgrade. Shailesh Chandra, managing director (MD) of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, announced that the ICE Punch makeover will only be released in mid-2025, perhaps even later. This might imply that the Punch facelift will have some stylistic alterations to distinguish it from the newly launched EV variant. Read more about the Punch EV here.

Expect Tata Motors to update the Punch SUV's front bumper and grille, as well as make modest changes to the headlights and hood, similar to what we've seen on previous Nexon and Harrier facelifts. The updates will be made for the Punch to be slightly more distinguished from its EV sibling and also in line with the brand's ICE model design cues.

However, no changes will be made to the powertrain, which remains a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. This power unit is good enough for 88PS and 115Nm. Also on offer is the Punch CNG with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which includes the carmaker's distinctive twin-cylinder architecture.

We don't expect a night-and-day difference in the cabin of the forthcoming Punch facelift and the Punch EV. Yes, the interiors will be different but very subtly. Features that will be carried over are dual 10.25-inch displays for infotainment (7-inch on lower variants) and digital instrument display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata emblem, a new HVAC panel with touch-sensitive controls, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, cabin air purifier, automatic climate control and a few more.

Currently, the Punch starts at Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom), and the update is expected to attract a significant premium. It will face off with the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3 but keeping its price in mind, it could even give the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite a run for its money.
