Tata Safari facelift spotted testing ahead of October 2023 debut

Tata Motors has begun testing the significantly revised Safari, which will be available later this year, and disguised test mules have been sighted on our roads once more. Essentially, the Harrier EV on show at Auto Expo 2023 previewed the design revisions that would be implemented on both the Harrier and the Safari. The latest spy pictures of the upcoming Safari reveal several additional elements.

The facelifted Safari has been sighted for the first time with production-spec LED headlights that appear vertically stacked. The new grille design and what appear to be LED DRLs covering the whole width of the dash are seen above the unit. Under the camo, the new alloys can be seen, while the rear end is set to get reworked tail lights and bumper.

The SUV's back end will most likely gain smaller and more linked LED tail-lamps and a slightly modified rear bumper. Similar design changes will also be applied to the ICE-powered Harrier makeover, which is scheduled for later this year.

The 1.5-litre T-GDI petrol engine that debuted at Auto Expo 2023 might make its way under the hood of the facelifted Safari. The Safari facelift will retain its 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, which generates 170PS and 350Nm of torque and is coupled to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission.

Tata has already debuted the new 10.25-inch touchscreen on the Harrier and Safari with the Red Dark Edition, but we anticipate some other improvements to the dashboard design. Perhaps the revised two-spoke steering wheel seen on the Nexon facelift test mule will find its way to the Safari facelift. It is possible that the facelift could get a new range of ADAS features.

Tata Motors are expected to start manufacturing the Safari facelift at its Pimpri facility in September 2023, with a market debut scheduled for October, around the festive period. The Tata Safari will continue to lock horns with the Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
