Tata Tigor EV spied, long-range under development?
A test mule of a Tata Tigor EV has sparked rumours of a long-range version of the electric sedan. The Tata Nexon EV is set to get a larger 40 kWh battery pack early next month and the Tigor EV could well follow the electric SUV.
Tata Tigor EV specifications, range
The Tigor EV uses Tata Motor's Ziptron high-voltage electric architecture to return an ARAI-certified range of 306 km. A 26 kWh liquid-cooled battery powers a 75PS and 170 Nm permanent magnet electric motor.
Among the Tata Tigor EV's other highlights is the fact that it is the first Indian EV to be subjected to a Global NCAP crash test, where it has scored a 4-star safety rating which matches the petrol-powered version.
Tata Tigor EV long-range expected range
The Tata Tigor EV long-range could well get the 30.2 kWh battery pack from the current Nexon EV. Alongside this, there should be a bump up in power and torque although outputs should stay below the Nexon Ev at around 100PS and 200 Nm. As for the real-world range, the long-range Tigor EV should see this rise to about 230 to 240 km from the current real-world figure of around 204 km.
Tata Tigor EV expected price, launch date
The long-range Tigor EV should debut later this year if indeed it is under development. Prices should see a Rs 60,000 to Rs 75,000 hike over the current versions of the Tigor EV. Prices for the electric sedan currently start from Rs 12.24 lakh ex-showroom.
