The Kia EV9 GT is a full-size family SUV with 501PS
Kia took the wraps off the EV9 GT at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2024. The new GT model will sit right at the top of the EV9 range and is by far the most potent of the lot. It has only been a year since the EV9 officially debuted and just a month since the car was launched in India. Since the car has enjoyed such great success in global markets, the South Korean brand has taken this opportunity to bring a more performance-oriented version of the family SUV.
Two motors and all-wheel drive will be standard on the Kia EV9 GT. The front-mounted motor produces 215PS while the rear one puts out 362PS for a combined total of 501PS. That is 122PS more than the current international-sold EV9 GT-Line.
According to Kia, the EV9 GT is 0.7 seconds quicker than the GT-Line variant, reaching 100 kmph in only 4.3 seconds. The Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) standard, which is shared by the Kia EV6 GT, will be available on the EV9 GT. As the car speeds, the VSG's shift points become more pronounced, simulating a conventional automatic transmission.
The EV9 GT has bigger brakes, an electronic rear limited-slip differential, 21-inch wheels wrapped in Continental rubber, and an improved suspension with adjustable dampers to handle the increased power.
Kia has given the EV9 GT a number of distinctive outward and interior design features to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup. Neon green brake callipers and additional GT-only front fascia trim pieces are added to the SUV.
Sportier, more supportive front seats are standard inside. They have the GT logo imprinted on them and are completed in leather and Alcantara. Synthetic leather surfaces are an alternative for those who choose not to use leather sitting surfaces. The inside is decorated with vivid green highlights, which can be seen on the seats and steering wheel. Both the dashboard finishes and the steering wheel are exclusive to the GT specification.
