Top 6 adventure motorcycles to buy in India under Rs 3 lakh

Adventure motorcycles have witnessed a growing demand in India for the past few years. With this, more and more two-wheeler manufacturers are entering this space, especially the volume makers, with their entry-level adventure motorcycles to suit every pocket. Speaking of which, here we have shortlisted budget-friendly ADV motorcycles.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

The new Himalayan 450, which was recently named the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2024, boasts a new 451.65cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. It makes 40.02PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Not only that, the motorcycle features all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire, USD front forks, a rear monoshock, a 320mm single front disc, a 270mm rear single disc, all-digital colour TFT display with Google Maps support, dual-channel and switchable ABS, a USB Type-C port, three ride modes, and slip-and-assist clutch.

Royal Enfield has priced the new Himalayan 450 at Rs 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Base variant. Then, the Pass and Summit variants cost Rs 2.74 lakh and Rs 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom). It is to be noted that the introductory pricing is applicable until 31 December, 2023.

Triumph Scrambler 400X

Priced at Rs 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom), Triumph's new Scrambler 400X makes its debut in the ever-growing ADV motorcycle segment. It features a 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine, producing 40PS at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Scrambler 400X's notable features include traction control, dual-channel ABS, LED lighting, ride-by-wire, a slip and assist clutch, and a semi-analogue instrument cluster. Triumph has also given it USD front forks a rear mono-shock, a 320mm front single disc, and a 230mm rear single disc.

KTM 250 Adventure

The KTM 250 Adventure is the most affordable ADV in the brand's adventure motorcycle line-up gets a 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit paired with a six-speed gearbox. This engine delivers 30PS and 24Nm of torque. The 250 Adventure comes with several modern day features, such as an LCD display, off-road ABS, a slip-and-assist clutch, front USD forks with 170mm suspension travel, and a rear monoshock with 177mm of suspension travel. Not to mention, the motorcycle is priced at Rs 2.47 lakh (ex-showroom).

Yezdi Adventure

The Yezdi Adventure is available in matte or glossy colour options and depending on the shade, the ADV costs either Rs 2.16 lakh or Rs 2.20 lakh (both, ex-showroom). Its 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine delivers 30.30PS and 29.84Nm of torque and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Yezdi has given it telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock, dual-channel ABS, a 320mm front disc, a 220mm rear disc, wire-spoke wheels, a Bluetooth-enabled digital display, USB charging socket, and three riding modes (road, rain, and off-road). Notably, the brand updated the motorcycle this year. It updated the major engine components to achieve improved NVH levels and added a larger rear sprocket for a better low-end performance.

Suzuki V-Strom SX

Priced at Rs 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom), the V-Strom SX is another affordable option after the Xpulse 200 4V, offering an LED headlamp, digital console with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB charging socket, and dual-channel ABS. It comes powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that makes 26.5PS of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The hardware on the V-Strom SX comprises telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock, single disc at both ends, and semi-block pattern MRF Mogrip Meteor tyres.

Hero Xpulse 200 4V

Not only the Xpulse 200 4V is one of the most popular entry-level ADV motorcycles in the country but it is also the most affordable in the list. Priced at Rs 1.41 lakh and Rs 1.53 lakh for Pro version (both ex-showroom), the Xpulse 200 4V is powered by a 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled four-valve engine generating 19.1PS at 8,500rpm and 17.35Nm of torque. This unit is coupled to a five-speed gearbox. In the recent update, Hero bestowed the Xpulse 200 4V with a brighter headlamp, three ABS modes (Road, Offroad, and Rally), and USB charging socket. Having said that, it continues with single-channel ABS, a 276mm single front disc, a 220mm rear single disc, and a digital LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity.

The Pro version features more off-road focussed components, such as handlebar raisers, adjustable (compression and rebound damping) front forks with longer travel, preload adjustable rear monoshock with longer travel, increased ground clearance (270mm), extended gear lever, and longer side stand.
