Toyota Rumion coming soon: What should you expect?
Toyota is said to be gearing up to introduce the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based Rumion in the Indian market in the coming months. This MPV recently made its debut in South Africa. Similarly, for the Indian market, it is expected to come with some subtle exterior changes that will set it apart from its Ertiga counterpart. Here is what you can expect from the upcoming Toyota Rumion.
Upcoming Toyota Rumion: Design
Design-wise, Toyota has taken a different approach to the newer models, making them more distinctive compared to the older models that were simply rebadged versions of Maruti Suzuki cars. The Rumion, too, is likely to get some design elements that will differentiate it from the Ertiga. This may include a reworked grille, a redesigned front bumper, and a new set of alloy wheels. Apart from these changes, the Rumion's overall design is expected to stay true to the Ertiga.
Upcoming Toyota Rumion: Interior
Moving to the interior, the Rumion is likely to adopt a similar design to its Maruti-based counterpart. You can expect an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an analogue cluster with a multi-information display, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, and automatic climate control. Additional features may include ABS with EBD, hill hold control, multiple airbags, cruise control, powered ORVMs, engine start/stop switch, and USB charging ports, among others.
Upcoming Toyota Rumion: Powertrain
The India-spec Rumion is likely to be powered by the same engine as the Ertiga - a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. It is expected to be paired with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine makes 104PS of power and 138Nm of torque.
Upcoming Toyota Rumion: Prices and Rivals
In terms of pricing, the Rumion could attract a higher premium than the Ertiga, which ranges between Rs 8.64 lakh and Rs 13.08 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Rumion prices could start from around Rs 8.90 lakh and go up to Rs 13.50 lakh. When launched, the Rumion will compete with its sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6, along with other contenders in the segment such as the Kia Carens.
