Toyota Taisor - rebadged Suzuki Fronx - launch date confirmed
Toyota is gearing up to introduce the Taisor in India on April 3, 2024, marking its entry into the competitive market segment. The Taisor, essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, joins Toyota's lineup of rebadged models, including the Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Rumion, based on the Maruti Baleno and Ertiga, respectively.
Toyota Taisor: Engine specifications
The Taisor is expected to offer the same powertrain options as the Maruti Fronx. This includes a choice between a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine generating 100PS and 148Nm of torque, and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 90PS and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual, a five-speed AMT, and a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Regarding fuel efficiency, the 1.2-litre variant is expected to deliver a mileage of 21.79kmpl with a five-speed manual gearbox and 22.89kmpl with a five-speed AMT transmission. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre variant is anticipated to offer a fuel economy of 21.5kmpl with a five-speed manual gearbox and 20.01kmpl with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota Taisor: Design & Interior
In terms of design and interior, the Taisor is expected to inherit most of its design cues from the Maruti Fronx, albeit with some distinctive elements such as bumpers, alloy wheels, and grille, along with potentially new color options. Inside the cabin, the layout is likely to remain similar to the Fronx, albeit with Toyota branding on the steering wheel and an updated user interface for the touchscreen infotainment system. The Taisor may feature a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, analogue instrument cluster with a color MID, keyless entry with push-button start, and possibly new upholstery.
Toyota Taisor: Features
In terms of features, expect the Toyota Taisor to offer LED headlights, cruise control, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, six airbags, ESP, auto-dimming IRVM, a six-speaker sound system, built-in voice assistant, connected car tech, hill hold assist, and USB Type-C and Type-A ports, among others.
Toyota Taisor: Pricing
The pricing for the Toyota Taisor, based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, is expected to range from Rs 8-9 lakh for the base variant to Rs 13.20-13.30 lakh for the top-end variant. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is currently priced between Rs 7.52 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh (both ex-showroom).
