Triumph Tiger 850 Sport and an entry-level Tiger in works
Triumph Motorcycles is prepping for a busy 2021 if the recent news is to be believed. The first offering from the British premium motorcycle manufacturer for 2021 is the Trident 660, a motorcycle that is aimed at competing with popular middleweights in the segment such as Kawasaki Z650, Yamaha MT07 and the Honda CB650R. However, that's not all as the UK based company is all set to launch two all-new motorcycles in the adventure and sport tourer segment, something that was revealed at one of the international dealership conferences
One of them is the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport. Think of this motorcycle to have the same purpose and intent as the BMW F 900 XR, which is a middleweight sport-tourer meant to munch miles. The leaked document on the Tiger 850 Sport mentions of the same engine and specifications of the new-gen Tiger 900. The difference in the naming for the sport tourer is to keep it connected to the larger 1050 Tiger Sport that is sold in the international markets. The difference between these models will be similar to how BMW has done with its XR and middle-weight GS adventure centric GS models, 750/850GS and F 900 XR. From the image that was leaked from the conference, the styling of the Tiger 850 Sport could draw a strong resemblance to the 1050 Sport
The other motorcycle is an entry-level Tiger, which could use the triple 660cc unit from the Trident, with a different state of tune to suit the adventure characteristics. The styling for this one seems to draw inspiration from the Tiger 900 as seen with he sleeker dual LED lights, fuel tank design with the extensions and a compact rear section. Also, the picture shows spoked wheels. Could this be Triumph's answer to the popular Yamaha Tenere 700. We'll have to wait for some more time to get more confirmation on the same.
