TVS introduces India's first electric two-wheeler racing championship
TVS Motor Company has announced India's first TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC). This electric two-wheeler racing championship will its historic debut at the 4th round of INMRC (Indian National Motorcycle Road Racing Championship) on 29 September, 2023. For this, TVS Racing has developed a special motorcycle, called the TVS Apache RTE. The RTE is a short for Racing Throttle Electric.
In a statement released by TVS Motor Company stated that this initiative is a significant step forward in motorsports and reaffirms the brand's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions as it becomes the first Indian manufacturer to foray into the electric two-wheeler racing.
TVS Apache RTE: Highlights
The first round of the e-OMC will witness a participation of eight riders selected by TVS Racing and they will ride specially designed TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles. Speaking of which, the brand claims that the Apache RTE has the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class. It gets a high-power battery pack with advanced chemistry paired with a liquid-cooled motor and motor controller. The battery is housed in a carbon fibre case, which acts as a stress member of the chassis. Further, TVS has a custom-built battery management system (BMS) with race-specific algorithms.
Apart from that, the Apache RTR comes equipped with Ohlins upside down front forks and a rear monoshock, carbon fibre wheels wrapped in Pirelli Super Corsa rubber, Brembo braking setup with a 310mm single front disc, and carbon fibre fairing. What is also special on this electric race motorcycle is its livery and paint scheme, which is a blend of TVS Racing Factory colour and sustainability-inspired graphics.
