Two-wheeler sales in India for July 2016
Just like four-wheeler manufacturers, July 2016 has turned out to be a good month for two-wheeler manufacturers in India as well. TVS Motor Company has announced a 18.7 per cent growth in domestic sales while Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced a 16 per cent growth. Here's a compilation of the sales numbers from individual manufacturers.
Hero MotoCorp
The company has announced a 9.13 per cent growth in sales for the month of July 2016 over the corresponding period last year. Hero MotoCorp sold 5,32,113 units in July 2016 while 4,87,580 units were sold in July 2015. In an official release, the manufacturer has stated that it continues to dominate the 100cc as well as the 125cc segment owing to the popularity of the Glamour and Super Splendor models. The company also says that the sales of their Maestro Edge and Duet scooters are continuing to grow. Its recently launched Splendor iSmart 110 has received a good buyer response.
The company has also stated that 'with the above average monsoon and implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations, it is cautiously optimistic about a positive turnaround in the industry in the second half of the year. In March this year, Hero MotoCorp inaugurated a state-of-the-art research and development centre.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India
The company has announced a 16 per cent growth in sales. It sold 4,29,527 units in July 2016 while 3,71,310 units were sold during the corresponding period last year. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has said that its automatic scooter sales have grown by a stellar 19 per cent. In July 2016, the company's total automatic scooter sales crossed the 3 lakh marker with 3,09,144 units sold. Its motorcycle sales grew by 7 per cent in July 2016 with 1,20,383 units sold. In July 2015 the company had sold 1,12,096 motorcycles.
Commenting on the company's sales performance, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "July has been a historic month for Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. The new capacity of our fourth plant has given us wings to not only grow faster than the industry, but create four records in one month. Crossing the 4.5 lakh unit sales mark in July 2016 and growing at 21 per cent nearly double that of the total two-wheeler industry in the first four months of FY 2016-17 gives us more confidence of a bumper festive season ahead."
Recently Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India inaugurated its 100th pre-owned 'Best Deal' dealership in India.
India Yamaha Motor
Just like the past few months, the company has registered good growth in July 2016 as well. The company has announced a 12 per cent growth in domestic sales (including Nepal) with 65,244 units sold. During the corresponding period last year, 58, 477 units were sold.
TVS Motor Company
The company has announced a 18.7 per cent growth in domestic sales with 2,06,605 units sold in July 2016. During the corresponding period last year, TVS Motor had sold 1,74,009 units.
In an official release, the company has said that its motorcycle sales have grown by 23 per cent with 95,062 units sold in July 2016. During the corresponding period last year, the company had sold 77,397 motorcycles. It has sold 68,033 scooters in July 2016 while 69,626 units were sold in July 2015.
Recently the production version of the TVS Akula 310 was caught testing in India.
