Upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is now officially Thar Roxx
Mahindra, on Saturday, 20 July, announced the official name for its upcoming Thar 5-door, that is Thar Roxx. The brand released a teaser, not only unveiling the official name of the Thar 5-door, but also offering fleeting glimpses of its exterior.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Design
The new teaser of the Thar Roxx, as mentioned earlier, shows off its exterior, which looks identical to the spy pictures surfaced on the internet a couple of weeks ago. It bears a strong resemblance to the on-sale Thar, but also bears some additional design elements. The key highlights redesigned front end with a new grille, LED projector headlights integrated with a daytime driving lights, LED fog lamps, and dual-tone front bumper similar to the Thar. Also, there are new alloy wheels and front parking sensors.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior
Although the interior was not revealed in the teaser, the Thar Roxx is likely to feature a revamped cabin. It could boast a new steering wheel, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (similar to the XUV400 and XUV700), electronic 4WD mode selector, chunky gear stick, USB Type-C and Type-A sockets, electronic parking brake with auto hold, telematics, second-row air-con vents, and ISOFIX child seat anchors, among others.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features
Mahindra will bestow the Thar Roxx with a host of features, such as telematics, Adrenox connected car functions, 360deg camera, dual-zone temperature control, single-pane or panoramic sunroof, six or more airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, traction control, hill descent control, TPMS, off-road-oriented advanced suspension setup, drive modes, and possibly ADAS.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine & transmission options
The Thar Roxx is likely to come powered by the same engine options as the Thar, which gets a 2.0-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine generating 152PS and 300Nm of torque (320Nm with AT) and a 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel unit that delivers 132PS and 300Nm of torque. There is also a possibility of Mahindra offering it with more powerful petrol and diesel engines from the Scorpio-N, which makes 175PS/370Nm of torque (400Nm with AT) in petrol version and 200PS/370Nm (380Nm with AT) in diesel guise.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Pricing
The price of the upcoming Thar Roxx may range from Rs 13-16 lakh to Rs 19-22 lakh. In contrast, the Thar costs Rs 11.35-17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
