Updated Audi e-tron GT offers longer range & more power

German luxury automaker has taken the wraps off the e-tron GT facelift, bringing in improved styling, range, performance, charging capabilities, and handling. The brand has also updated the e-tron GT range with an addition of the new top-of-the-line RS e-tron GT Performance and the entry-level trim is now called S e-tron GT. First introduced in 2021, the e-tron GT has been the electric flagship in the Audi's line-up.

Audi e-tron GT facelift: Design & Interior

The new e-tron GT range feature a subtle design updates. The base-spec S e-tron GT comes with a reworked bumper with silver inserts around the air inlets. Whereas, the RS e-tron GT gets a distinctive front bumper with large air inlets with motorsport-inspired elements, such as a streamlined diffuser and a vertical red reflector. Then, the RS e-tron GT Performance can be had with an optional matte darkened carbon roof and carbon camouflage elements.

The new brand identity, which includes two-dimensional Audi rings, has been added to the line-up. Additionally, Audi has expanded colour options for the e-tron GT facelift to nine shades. There is also an optional Black Optics package with dark Audi rings and other elements.

Further, the carmaker now offers new 20-inch multi-spoke wheels for the S e-tron GT and RS trims as well as new six-twin-spoke wheels for the RS models. In contrast, the RS e-tron GT performance gets 21-inch wheels reminiscent of the iconic "AVUS wheel."

On the inside, there are redesigned seats and door sills, a new steering wheel, and digital content. More importantly, the e-tron GT facelift now uses sustainable materials, in the form of microfiber material Dinamica and the fabric Cascade, throughout the cabin, while the RS trims offer special design packages and optional massage functions for the seats.

The e-tron GT family also boasts the updated Audi virtual cockpit providing new information on battery temperature and charging power. The RS e-tron GT offers the RS-specific menu, and the RS e-tron GT performance pays tribute to the 1994 Audi RS 2 Avant with white power display and speedometer options. There is an upgraded panoramic sunroof. Unlike previous version, the new panoramic roof's glass minimises direct sunlight and turns opaque at the touch of a button, says Audi. This is possible with polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) technology to change from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button.

The refreshed e-tron GT models are fitted with a newly developed air suspension with two-chamber/two-valve technology, which claims to offer a balance between comfort and driving dynamics.

Audi e-tron GT facelift: Powertrain

Audi has optimised the high-voltage battery for higher energy density and reduced weight. The battery's gross storage capacity now stands at 105kWh compared to 83.7kWh, allowing for a range of up to 609km. In addition, the new charging system, with an increased charging speed to 320KW, can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 18 minutes, and a 10-minute charge provides a range of up to 280km. It also supports 22kW AC fast charging.

The electric all-wheel drive system in the e-tron GT facelift features two electric motors, with the RS e-tron GT performance having modified power electronics for higher discharge currents. A new boost mode provides the RS trims with a 95PS increase in power for ten seconds. Notably, the S e-tron GT makes 679PS, the RS e-tron GT delivers 856PS, and the RS e-tron GT Performance generates 925 PS, making that Audi's most powerful production car.

Not to mention, the e-tron GT facelift offers impressive acceleration, with the S e-tron GT reaching 100kmph in 3.4 seconds, the RS e-tron GT in 2.8 seconds, and the RS e-tron GT Performance in 2.5 seconds. Top speeds range from 245kmph for the S e-tron GT to 250kmph for the RS models.

Audi e-tron GT facelift: Prices

In western markets, prices for the updated e-tron GT start at 1,26,000 euros for the S e-tron GT, 1,47,500 euros for the RS e-tron GT, and 1,60,500 euros for the RS e-tron GT Performance. India launch of the Audi e-tron GT facelift is likely to happen in late 2024 or at the beginning of next year.
