Volkswagen makes six airbags standard across its model range
Volkswagen Passenger Car India has announced that it has made six airbags standard across its model range, such as the Virtus and Taigun. Earlier this year, Hyundai, Kia, and Skoda had made six airbags standard across their vehicle line-up. Notably, the Virtus and Taigun have been awarded a five-star safety rating by Global NCAP.
Volkswagen has Taigun represented to over 61 per cent of sales, resulting in over one lakh sales milestone and around 40 per cent of customers have picked GT variants of both the Taigun and Virtus, says the brand.
The Virtus and Taigun come powered by two engine optinons: a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine generating 115PS and 148Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor that delivers 150PS and 250Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, six-speed torque convertor automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
In other news, Volkswagen recently introduced a new initiative, called 'Volkswagen Experiences' or 'VWe', aiming to deliver community-driven experiences for its customers and followers. As a part of this, "The 1st first chapter: An exhilarating expedition to Ladakh" has been announced. The expeditions will let Volkswagen owners to spend five nights and six days in the spectacular Himalayas. Customers will be able to drive various Volkswagen vehicles, such as the Virtus, Taigun, and Tiguan.
This inaugural drive to the Himalayas will comprise two phases and will commence in June 2024. The participants will start off from Chandigarh on 9 June and pass through the challenging terrains of the Spiti Valley to reach Ladakh. Then, the second expedition will kick off Leh on 18 June, concluding back in Chandigarh on June 23 and will conclude in Chandigarh on 23 June.
