Volkswagen to increase the price of Polo and Vento from September 1, 2021
Volkswagen has decided to increase the price of the Polo and Vento from September 1, 2021. While Maruti Suzuki decided to hike up the prices of all their vehicles, Volkswagen will only be increasing the prices of their Polo hatchback by 3 percent and their Vento sedan by 2 percent, across all ranges.
The Volkswagen Polo range starts from Rs 6.16 lakh and a top-spec GT variant costs Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The price increase will not be applicable on the GT variant of the Polo lineup though. The Volkswagen Vento on the other hand starts from Rs 9.99 lakh and a range-topping Vento costs Rs 13.83 lakh.
Customers who book a Vento or Polo before August 31, 2021, will not be affected by the price increase.
Volkswagen says the reason behind increasing the cost of these vehicles is the rise of input costs. The worldwide car industry, particularly the components sector, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 epidemic. As a result, car production costs have increased, forcing automakers to raise the price of their automobiles.
The Volkswagen Polo and Vento come with a 1-litre TSI turbocharged engine that puts out 110PS and 175 Nm of torque. The entry-level Volkswagen Polo is powered by a 1-litre naturally aspirated MPI engine that produces 75PS and 95 Nm of torque. A manual transmission comes as standard but customers do get to choose an optional torque converter which is on offer.
