Volkswagen Virtus GT Line and GT Plus Sport launched in India

The eagerly anticipated GT Line and GT Plus Sport variants of the Virtus have been introduced by Volkswagen India. The prices of these new variants, start at Rs 14.07 lakh and Rs 17.84 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Volkswagen revamped the Virtus sedan's variant range to make the "GT" badging and treatment more widely available. The new Taigun and Virtus mid-spec Highline Plus versions have also been added to the brand's portfolio.

Volkswagen Virtus GT Line

On the exterior, the Virtus GT Line has darkened LED headlights with LED DRLs, a front grille, a boot lid spoiler, a window line, and Virtus branding. Then, there's an electric sunroof, blacked-out ORVMs, GT Line badging, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

It has a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine under the hood that produces 115PS and 178nm of torque and can be either mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

The black theme continues on the inside with black upholstery, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital driver's display with a red theme for contrast, red ambient lighting, aluminium pedals, a sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, and ESC.

Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport

Similar blacked-out styling is also applied to the GT Plus Virtus, but the GT Plus Sport also receives red "GT" badges everywhere, red brake callipers, a dual-tone roof, and an aero package that upgrades the side running board, front and rear bumpers, and other sporty parts. The interior of the cabin has a black motif with red accents throughout. You receive aluminium pedals, black leatherette seats with red stitching, red ambient lighting, and red steering wheel inlays.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 150PS and 250Nm and can be optioned with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT).

Volkswagen Virtus & Taigun Highline Plus

A new Highline Plus trim, which falls in between the Highline and Topline trims, is also included for the Taigun and Virtus 1.0 TSI models. The smaller 1.0-litre engine is offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes. An 8-inch digital driver's display, an automatic dimming IRVM, keyless entry with a push-button start/stop, an electric sunroof, automated headlights, and rain-sensing wipers are some of its primary features.
