Volvo's 2015 XC90 will come with all-new safety systems
Volvo has some big plans lined up for its 2015 model of the XC90. It is likely to be armored with 'world's first' safety technology to compete against the likes of Audi Q7 and the Land Rover Discovery.
Volvo's new Car2Car technology will help drivers with the road and weather conditions
Volvo has crammed its entire 'safety and support feature' into the all-new XC90. The new Volvo XC90 will boast of detection in darkness, and animal detection, wherein brakes are automatically applied when a creature is detected in the car's path.
Pedestrian detection in the dark is a notable feature in the new XC90
This flagship SUV will also have in its armory features such as road edge and barrier detection, and adaptive cruise control. Both road edge/barrier detection and adaptive cruise control will come with a 'steer assist'.
Others state-of-the-art features that make the list is the Car-to-X communication system and the autonomous parking system, wherein the driver can leave the vehicle in front of a parking space and the car parks by itself.
The new XC90 has animal detection technology to prevent collision with animals
Volvo recently announced its ambitious 'Vision 2020' saying that its target is to build cars with state-of-the-art foolproof safety features.
"We are introducing the first Volvos with autonomous steering to avoid accidents and make driving more comfortable. When the first XC90 was introduced in 2002, it featured a number of ground-breaking safety features, including a world-first solution that helps prevent rollovers. By revealing a number of systems for the next generation XC90 we once again confirm our leadership in automotive safety," said Thomas Broberg, Senior Safety Advisor Volvo Car Group.
With features like these, the Chinese-owned Swedish carmaker could well be on its way to achieving 'Vision 2020'.
