Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Fi and Street Rally 125 Fi showcased - launch expected soon
Alongside the new Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi, Yamaha showcased the Ray ZR 125 Fi and the Street Rally 125 Fi. With the update, the Yamaha Ray ZR has been bumped up by a segment and now rivals the likes of Suzuki Burgman Street 125.
The Ray ZR 125 Fi, as the name suggests, gets a new fuel-injected 125cc engine that produces 8.2PS and 9.7Nm of torque. The new drive train meets the BSVI emission norms and uses a CVT automatic gearbox to deliver power to the rear wheel. The drivetrain and power figures are common for both the scooters.
Cosmetic changes include chunky fairing, body panels and a sharply designed visor in the front. The Ray ZR and the Street Rally also gets a new 'Y' shaped DRL in the front. The Ray ZR and the Street Rally miss out on the all-LED headlamp unit but instead get a halogen headlamp assembly. Also, the instrument cluster is all digital.
The front-wheel size has been increased to 12-inch diameter and gets a disc brake assembly for braking. The rear wheel stays the same size (10-inch) and gets a drum brake assembly.
The Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally gets a similar setup but will come shod with Maxxis off-road-oriented tyres. What's more on the Street Rally are the well-integrated knuckle guards. Yamaha India will also offer crash guards for the scooter with dedicated spots to mount auxiliary lamps as accessories.
The prices haven't been announced yet but we believe that it will hover between Rs 70,000-72,000 ex-showroom for the Ray ZR 125 Fi and the Ray ZR Street Rally when they will be launched in early 2020. While the Ray ZR 125 Fi will rival the likes of BSVI Honda Activa 125, the Ray ZR will rival the Aprilia 125 Storm.
