The Hyundai Kona electric is the first-ever all-electric crossover that will be launched in India. Hyundai India has resorted to the CKD route of assembling kits at its Chennai plant in the country. This should give the manufacturer an edge in terms of pricing the Kona electric aggressively. The Hyundai Kona electric, that is believed to be priced at Rs 25 lakh, will be positioned in the same segment as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Compass and also the Honda CR-V in terms of pricing. Safety

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Kona electric gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, rear camera with guidelines, tyre pressure monitoring system, all disc brakes and virtual engine sound system.

Infotainment

The 2019 Hyundai Kona electric SUV is equipped with a 17.77cm touchscreen with radio, USB and Aux-in and modern connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, wireless charging, energy information and consumption, steering mounted controls and voice recognition.

Comfort and convenience

The electric SUV gets electric sunroof, button type shift by wire tech, front ventilated and heated seats, 10-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support adjustment, electric parking brake and auto hold and fully automatic climate control.

EV-centric features

Drive modes - Ec0/Eco+, Comfort and Sport, paddle-shifters for adjustable regenerative braking, one pedal driving, smart eco pedal guide, option of driver-only air conditioning and utility mode.

The Hyundai Kona electric is on offer in two states of tune internationally - one is powered by a 39kWh battery pack while the other is more powerful and uses a 64kWh battery pack

Exterior and interior features

The 2019 Hyundai Kona electric comes with bi-function LED headlights, rear skid plate, R17 alloys, rear spoiler and roof rails. Inside, the cabin is equipped with leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, soft touchpad on dashboard, metal pedals, and a digital instrument cluster with supervision.
