Maruti Suzuki appoints Shashank Srivastava as marketing and sales head
India's largest automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has updated its executive board with the appointment of the Shashank Srivastava as the company's new head of marketing and sales. It is being said that this rejig in the top position is in line with the company's new plans of working with Toyota as well as the new emission norms that come into effect from next year onward. This update in the top order management was announced in an internal company event held at Kochi. We await an official release from Maruti Suzuki on the same.
Prior to Srivastava, this position was held by Senior Exec. Director, Randhir Singh Kalsi, who is likely to take an advisory role and retire from this current profile in the next few months. The new executive board formed at Maruti Suzuki will include five Indian executives who will be looking after important verticals of R&D, production, sales and marketing, finance and HR. They will be accompanied by a Japanese director as well. In addition to their responsibilities and also keeping a check on the Indian automobile industry, these executive members will also bridge the gap between the company and its external shareholders. Also, they will be playing a key role in the forming the plan of execution for the partnership with Toyota and the upcoming models that will be part of this combined effort.
According to the new profiles, Shashank Srivastava will be the head of sales along with T Hashimoto. The marketing responsibility will be taken care of by Tarun Garg in the role of the executive officer. Ram Suresh Akella will be head of sales and network for Arena. The other roles will be senior executive officer for R&D - CV Raman, senior executive officer for Production - Rajiv Gandhi, senior executive officer for sales, marketing, service, logistics - R S Kalsi, senior executive officer for finance and legal - Ajay Seth and senior executive officer for HR and IT are part of this executive board - Rajesh Uppal. K Yamaguchi will be the Japanese director on the executive board.
Right after Mayank Pareek left Maruti Suzuki India Limited in 2014 and joined Tata Motors, R S Kalsi was made the head of sales and marketing. On the other hand, Shashank Srivastava is currently the Executive Director, International marketing with Maruti Suzuki India. Shashank joined the company after completing his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. He has been the chief general manager and also reported to the head sales and marketing till 2012.
