Upcoming Kia Carnival MPV variants, seating configuration and engine specs revealed

Kia Motors India has revealed full details of its upcoming MPV for India, the Kia Carnival. The luxury MPV will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo, and will be the first of at least two cars that the Korean carmaker will launch in India in 2020. Prices will be revealed at the time of launch but the Carnival is expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom.

The luxury people-mover is being brought in as a CKD, production of which has begun as well at the newly completed Anantapur facility. This is part of an aggressive product strategy from the brand, it will launch a new car every six to eight months in India. The Carnival will be followed by a sub-four-metre SUV.

All versions of the Carnival will come powered by a 2,199cc 4-cylinder VGT BSVI compliant diesel engine that makes 200PS at 3,800rpm and 440Nm between 1,500-2,750rpm. This sends power to the front wheels via an 8-speed torque-convertor automatic. The Carnival will be available in seven, eight and nine seating options, dependent on the variant chosen. There are two seven-seater configurations. The first features two captain seats in the second row and  third-row bench, the second is a VIP version that replaces the third-row bench with captain seats and a smaller sinking seat. The eight-seater option gives passengers a smaller jump-seat in the second row. Finally, the nine-seat versions get two rows of captain seat and a last row bench seat.

The Carnival will be available in three trim levels, Premium (7-seater and 8-seater), Prestige (7-seater and 9-seater) and Limousine (7-seater VIP). Following are the feature highlights for each of these:
