2018 Hyundai Creta SUV: Old vs new
Earlier this month, Hyundai dealers in India started taking bookings for the updated Creta that is expected to reach dealerships by the end of this month. The facelifted Hyundai Creta will rival the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Honda BR-V. While Nissan recently launched the Terrano Sport edition, Honda and Renault have not made any changes to their offerings. The 2018 Hyundai Creta will get cosmetic additions as well as updates in the feature list, with unchanged mechanicals. We take a look at what all changes has the new offering received over the outgoing model
The changes that the 2018 Hyundai Creta gets over the outgoing model does not make it substantially different. The subtle cosmetic additions do add a smarter touch to the new Creta. Compared with the Honda BR-V which looks more MPVish, the 2018 Hyundai Creta is a more convincing looking design. Although, two other two rivals - the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano will appeal more to those who are looking for a muscular looking SUV.
The Brazilian-spec 2018 Hyundai Creta that launches in India shortly gets a new blackened grille that replaces the triple slat chrome grille. Also, the vertically positioned fog lamp housing has been redesigned for a more conventional design. The front bumper too has been updated with an even more aggressive design. The headlight assembly with DRLs remains unchanged in the 2018 Hyundai Creta as well.
The rear profile of the new Hyundai Creta features a simple update in the form of repositioned reflectors. The taillight design remains unchanged but the elements have been updated. In addition, the 2018 Hyundai Creta also gets a more prominent roof-mounted spoiler. Also, the bash plate design has been reworked. However, overall the rear profile does not look much distinct compared to the outgoing model
Since the 2018 Hyundai Creta is a facelift and not a generational upgrade, dimensionally it remains unchanged. While the India-bound model might feature some chrome on the lower section, it gets much smarter alloy wheels compared to the outgoing model,.
The image positioned below is that of the outgoing Hyundai Creta while that on top is that of the updated model. The most prominent change is the colour of the trims. Hyundai has chosen to make the cabin all-black compared to the dual-tone finish. The trim lines too have been revisited. The central infotainment screen has been updated with a much larger display. While the present unit is compatible with CarPlay and Android Auto, we believe the user interface of this unit might be updated.
