2018 Volvo XC60 SUV spied in India ahead of December launch
Volvo Cars India is set to replace the first-gen XC60 in India with the 2018 Volvo XC60, most likely in a month. The new Volvo XC60 which we have already driven was recently spotted in India. In the spy shots, the 2018 Volvo XC60 SUV can be seen covered in camouflage wrap. With the 2018 XC60 spied on Indian roads, testing could be on for a launch in the near future, and reports suggest this could be as early as December. Volvo Cars does have a facility in Bengaluru where the XC60 may be assembled at a later stage, but the company could bring its first batch of Volvo XC60 units as CBUs. The test mule was spotted with 19-inch 10-spoke black diamond-cut alloys, which indicate that the 20-inch option available globally may not make it to the India-spec model.
The 2018 Volvo XC60 was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017, and replaces the first generation XC60, which has been on sale in India since 2010. Volvo will launch the only the d5 variant of the 2018 XC60, with the top-spec Inscription trim in India. The India-bound 2018 XC60 will come powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel that produces 239PS / 480Nm.
The engine will be offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The 2018 Volvo XC60 will be priced in the Rs 50 lakh to 60 lakh price bracket. Representing a third of the Swedish carmaker's total sales, the XC60 is an important car for them. It will take on the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.
