2019 Hero Xpulse 200 spotted uncamouflaged ahead of its official launch
Earlier this month, OVERDRIVE reported that the 2019 Hero Xpulse 200 was spotted on test in the outskirts of Bengaluru ridden by the cross country rally rider C.S Santosh. This time around, the adventure motorcycle has been spotted uncamouflaged on the internet. That said, the upcoming adventure motorcycle gives away the bits and mechanicals that we can expect on the soon to be launched Hero Xpulse.
As reported earlier, the image confirms two motorcycles being launched - Hero Xpulse 200 and the Hero Xpulse 200 T (T- touring). The Xpulse is expected to be the more hardcore variant of the two, whereas, the Xpulse 200 T is expected to be a milder variant of the lot.
The more hardcore variant of the Xpulse is equipped with 21-inch front wheel size and a wire spoke rims shod with CEAT gripp XL tyres. The bike also gets a flying mudguard and fork gaiters as standard. The headlamp assembly houses a halogen unit with LED DRLs. The Xpulse has an offset front axle with a long travel suspension to improve its off- road capabilities.
The adventure motorcycle houses the platform borrowed from the Hero Xtreme 200R, but we believe the chassis has gone under heavy modification to sustain the motorcycles off road capabilities. The bike will sport stronger engine mounts and a revised steering geometry and will use the engine as a stressed member.
The motorcycle is expected to have a mono shock absorber at the rear end same as the Hero Xtreme 200R, however, with longer travel.
Powering the Hero Xpulse 200 could be a 200cc block sourced from the Hero Xtreme 200R which could make the same power output - 18.4PS and 17.1Nm , however, the lightweight nature of the adventure motorcycle will have a superior power-to-weight ratio. As the images show, the engine will fuel injected. The final drive ratio of the Xpulse will be higher than that of the Xtreme 200R.
Both the motorcycles are equipped with disc brakes for the front and rear along with ABS (anti lock braking system). The seat height of both the adventure bikes is expected to be low to aid shorter riders.
The exhaust on the hardcore variant is high mounted and is upswept, while, the exhaust on the Touring variant is mounted low. The Touring varint sports alloy wheels but misses out on the handguard that the Xpulse 200 gets. An engine guard, also known as a skid plate is expected to be a standard offering on both the motorcycles.
Expect Hero to launch both the motorcycles by the end of April 2019 with a price tag of Rs 1.2 lakh ex-showroom. When launched, the motorcycles are expected to create a niche of their own as the closest competition is Royal Enfield Himalayan which retails at Rs 1.67 ex-showroom in India.
