2020 Baojun 530 facelift SUV (MG Hector) launched in China
SAIC, makers of the MG Hector SUV in India, has launched the 2020 Baojun 530 facelift in its Chinese home market. The Baajun 530 is the Chinese twin of the Hector and has been on sale there since 2018. This is a minor facelift which adds some new cosmetic bits and features but could be a good preview of what the upcoming seven-seater Hector might be like.

The biggest change is in the face. It now gets a slightly slimmer, more swept-back LED DRL, this leads into a new grille with a studded honeycomb pattern. The housing for the headlamps has changed too. Further, it now has a new front lip which juts out a bit more than the earlier car. The rear gats slightly reworked tail lamps and a new bumper with added lighting elements. On the inside, the 530 gets the vertically stacked 10,4-infotainment system that debuted with the MG Hector. Another major change is the new fully digital instrument cluster.
The 530 is now also available with a six-seater option. This gets two captain seats in the middle row and a third-row bench. Aside from this, the five and seven-seater options continue. The variants equipped with a third row also get sliding adjustment for the middle rows.

Mechanically, the Baojun 530 facelift ditches its 1.8-litre N/A unit for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol we get in India. But unlike the Hector's DCT, this motor is paired with an 8-step CVT. The six-speed manual is also available. Prices for the SUV start at RMB 77,800 or roughly Rs 8 lakh.
