2020 Hyundai Verna facelift teased ahead of debut, engine options revealed
Hyundai India has released teaser photos of the upcoming Hyundai Verna facelift. The Verna sedan will get significant cosmetic changes and a wide range of engine and gearbox options. The Verna facelift will go up against the soon-to-be-launched new-gen Honda City, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the updated Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento. We expect prices of the new facelifted Verna to start from Rs 8 lakhs and go up to Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom.
The teaser shows that the 2020 Verna gets a heavily revised face, dominated by another iteration of the brand's cascading grille. Here, it is wider and finished in a large silver honeycomb pattern. The headlamps are now sleeker too and get the full LED treatment, the bumper is new as well, featuring triangular inserts for the LED foglamps, much like the Elantra. The side profile remains much the same as before but a sharper set of alloy wheels are visible, while the rear section now has chunkier, chrome-trimmed bumpers, new full-LED taillamps with a LED parking light and larger Hyundai badging.
The Verna will now get the 1.0-litre TGDI turbo-petrol motor as seen on the Venue, Nios and Aura. We expect the higher tune 120PS and 170 Nm version to make it here. The other engine options will be the 1.5-litre diesel paired with a six-speed torque convertor automatic and a naturally aspirated petrol with a six-speed CVT. Both these motors will also get a six-speed manual. The petrol motor is expected to make 15PS/144Nm while the diesel motor is expected to come with 115PS/250Nm. All three engines will meet BSVI-norms.
The Verna will get a long list of features which will include a digital cluster, front ventilated seats, smart trunk, wireless charger, ECO coating, rear USB charger and Arkamys sound system.
