22KYMCO Flow electric, Like 200 and X-Town 300i ABS maxi-scooter launched in India
Kymco (Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd) is a Taiwanese company that manufactures scooters, motorcycles and ATVs which is exports to different international countries. KYMCO makes engines for BMW and scooters for Kawasaki as well.ÃÂ The company entered into an joint agreement called 22Kymco with India-based 22ÃÂ Motors that specialises in developing advanced, connected electric vehicles. It has designed iFLOW, a smart scooter equipped with AI and IoT platform. And now 22Kymco has launched three new scooters in the Indian market. - iFlow, Like 200 and also theÃÂ X-Town 300i motor scooter. The prices of the scooters have been announced too, the iFlow is priced at Rs 90,000 while the Like150 will be available at Rs 1.30 lakh and the top of the lineÃÂ X-Town 300i ABS will be available at Rs 2.30 lakh, on road. These three scooters will be available inÃÂ New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad in the first phase. It will be launched in other parts of the country in the following months. 22Kymco plans at having 300 touchpoints in the coming three years. These scooters will be manufactured atÃÂ Bhiwadi, Haryana, with an annual production capacity of two lakh units.
The Flow electric scooter comes with geo-fencing and remote-stop to alert the owner if it is taken out of a defined area in case of theft. The 22 Motors Flow electric is powered by a 2,100W electric motor which produces 90Nm of peak torque. The lithium-ion power pack gives an 80km range on a full charge that takes 60 minutes and there is provision to add two more batteries to supplement the range.ÃÂ The battery has a 50,000km warranty and can be quick-charged for a range of 20km within 10 minutes. The electric scooter also has a crawl mode to allow riding the scooter to a repair stop at 3-5 kmph in case the scooter tyres are punctured. It has an appealing design with its retro-modern aesthetic. This one was shown at the 2018 Auto Expo in India.ÃÂ
Moving on to the Like 200, the company believes this retro-styled scooter will make a mark in the booming scooter segment of the country. While the Like 150 is the one that was showcased at the unveiling, 22Kymco will be selling the Like 200 scooter in the country with a new 13.46PS/11.8Nm 163cc single-cylinder engine, replacing the 150cc unit that powers the Like 150. The features list also includes LED lights,ÃÂ coloured TFT-screen instrument cluster. More details on the technical specifications and features of the Like 200 is expected to be released by September 2019.
And lastly, the flagship offering X-Town 300i ABS maxi-scooter that makes use of a fuel-injected 276cc engine which makes 24.5PS and generates 25Nm of torque. Transferring all of that to the rear wheel is a CVT unit. In terms of appearance, the X-Town does look sporty and aggressive and also seems suitable for longer journeys, something that you cannot think of on the present crop of scooters on sale in India. The X-Town has a weight of 200kg while the fuel tank capacity is 12.5 litres. It comes with front and rear disc brakes and ABS is offered as standard.
