Bajaj Chetak - a closer look at the new electric scooter from Bajaj Auto
The Bajaj Chetak Scooter has been brought back to life but this time in an electric form. While many could miss the two-stroke and four-stroke engines that Bajaj Auto offered in its heyday, the new Chetak has been equipped with an electric motor for its drivetrain. The scooter sources its power from a lithium-ion battery.
Bajaj Auto plans to retail the new Chetak from KTM outlets pitching the product in a premium market space. That said, the ex-showroom cost for the new Chetak is likely to be between Rs 1 lakh and 1.5 lakh.
The scooter has adapted to modern styling cues, however, gets the same silhouette
The headlamp is an all-LED unit with horseshoe-shaped DRLs
The panels get no aggressive styling elements, instead, sport a smooth bulge on either side of the engine cover that flows to the back of the scooter integrating the tail lamp
The seat has been mounted in a way to offer a floating effect as the tail section flows down
The multi-spoke alloy wheels get a matte finish
The dashboard sports a circular instrument cluster with feather-touch buttons for switchgear
The left switchgear gets a play/pause button along with high/low beam button
On the right switchgear, the scooter gets boot release and glovebox release switch
The instrument cluster integrates range, speed, time, battery charge and ride mode indicators
The scooter gets aluminium finish all around - footrest, grab handle, dashboard and headlamp panels
