Suzuki Gixxer long term review: After 7 months and 4,629kms

If you read the last report on the Gixxer you will know that both Alan and Lijo have complained that the Suzuki was prone to grounding on bad speedbreakers. But once the bike was back from its first service Suzuki seems to have solved the issue with a simple addition of preload on the rear shock. To be honest I never had an issue with the preload in the first place but once the bike was back I loaded it up with a pillion and went hunting for speedbreakers. Not one made contact so that's one issue of the Gixxer sorted.

Yes the ride has gotten slightly firmer but it is in no way offensive and the Gixxer still runs like business as usual. And business has been good. I'm still very much enjoying the ride and this month I found myself really appreciating the Gixxer's riding position. Not so much for its comfort or sportiness but because of how well you can grip the motorcycle. The exaggerated flares in the tank work well to lock the knees in, even for taller riders and the heel plates are also very functional. While you do tend to end up gripping the plates with more of the centre of your foot than the heel, it still offers much better grip than most other motorcycles. Being so connected to the bike generates more confidence when you start to push it. Just another reason why I continue to love riding this motorcycle. It's also very reasonably efficient. Given my generous throttle use, I get a decent 45-47kmpl while Lijo who commutes in faster, less trafficked conditions often gets above 50kmpl.
