KTM RC390 and RC200 launched in India at Rs 2.05 lakh and Rs 1.60 lakh

KTM has launched its RC series motorcycles, the RC390 and RC200 in India at Rs 2.05 lakh and Rs 1.60 lakh, ex-Delhi respectively. The RC200 and RC390 are the faired versions of the Duke 200 and 390 respectively.

The RC200 comes with a water cooled, 4-stroke engine which makes 25PS of power. The RC390 in the meanwhile gets a 373cc motor which produces 43.5PS of power. Both the motorcycles are mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Common to both the motorcycles again are the 300mm and 230mm disc in the front and rear respectively. KTM has given the RC200 and RC390 twin projector headlamps and LED tail lamps. The instrument panel is borrowed from the Dukes and is quite comprehensive as far as information provided to the rider is concerned.  ABS is standard on the KTM RC390 while it is not available with the RC200. KTM says that the RC twins have been inspired by its RC8 and Moto 3 machines. The daytime running lamps on the RC series can be used as per the owner's will. The RC200 gets an all-black colour while the 390 is black and white. KTM has given the RC390 Metzeler tyres and the RC200, MRF.

At the price bracket in which they have been launched, the KTM RC twins compete with the Honda CBR150R, Yamaha R15, Honda CBR250R, Hyosung GT250R, Suzuki Inazuma as well as the Ninja 300. Bajaj had earlier at the Auto Expo showcased the Pulsar 400SS which is likely to enter production soon. The RC125 is though not coming to India. Bajaj says that the KTM bikes are around 98 per cent localised and while one third of them are sold in India, the rest are exported.
