Skoda Enyaq iV interior sketches shown ahead of September 1 unveil
Skoda Auto has released sketches of the upcoming Skoda Enyaq iV's interiors. The new electric SUV will be revealed on September 1 and new details have emerged on how the insides of the new EV might be.
The basic layout mimics what was first seen on the new-gen Skoda Octavia. The dash has similar slowing, layered design, while the number of physical buttons have reduced. There is a large 13-inch central infotainment screen and a small bank of physical buttons. The new Skoda two-spoke steering wheel makes an appearance here as well. The idea has been to improve the sense of space in the cabin.
New details are the more recessed digital driver's display and a new HUD with AR. Now based on the VW Group's MEB architecture, the lack of a central tunnel has freed up space for more cubby holes around the centre armrest. This has also freed up more space for the middle passenger in the second row. Skoda says that the long wheelbase of this platform has freed up more space on the inside as well as in the boot, which is a sizeable 585 litres.
Skoda will provide the Enyaq iV with numerous design packages, which will offer customers numerous choices in interior colours and textures. There will be sustainable materials on offer as well, one upholstery option will offer a blend of Woolmark-certified will and polyester derived from recycled plastic bottles. Needless to say, there will soft-touch materials all around the dash and door pads.
The Enyaq is one of 11 electrified models that Skoda wants to launch globally by 2022. Currently, it will join the Citigo iV and Superb iV in the Czech brand's electrified line-up with the new Skoda Octavia RS iV. The Enyaq will be available in five different power variants and three battery sizes, and will be RWD or AWD depending on the variant chosen. The Skoda Enyaq iV will be launched internationally in early 2021, with production beginning in late 2020 at the Mlad Boleslav plant.
