Upcoming MG Gloster SUV interior spied ahead of festive season launch
MG Motor India's next offering for India will be the six-seater MG Hector Plus. Post that, as showcased at Auto Expo 2020, MG will launch the MG Gloster SUV around the festive season. This will be a more premium offering, priced around Rs 40 to 45 lakh. Details about the Gloster's styling, specifications and features are already known, but a new set of spy photos have revealed what the 7-seater SUV's interiors might look like.

Although heavily camouflaged, the photos show that the interiors of the Gloster will draw heavily from that of the Maxus D90 it is based on. The basic layout and design have been carried over but there are some key differences. Noticeable here is the new flat-topped chrome-shifter, and an all-black colour scheme, the upholstery pattern is different too. Notable elements inside are a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control and so on. Other expected features are a 360-degree camera, TPMS, panoramic sunroof, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat and eight airbags.
A 2.0-litre turbo petrol with 225PS and 350Nm is offered elsewhere with the D90 but MG will bring it to India with a new diesel engine. This is an in-house developed unit derived from the FCA Multijet diesel as seen on the Hector. This motor will put out 218PS and 480Nm and come paired with an 8-speed automatic. It measures 5,005mm in length, 1,932mm in width and 1,875mm in height. Also, the wheelbase measures 2,950mm. The suspension set-up in the India-spec MG Maxus D90 includes dual helix independent in the front and 5-link integral in the rear. In terms of safety, the Maxus D90 has been awarded a 5-star rating in the Australian NCAP crash tests wherein 70 per cent of the body is made of steel and nine per cent is made of thermoformed steel.
MG says that despite the lower pricing, the MG Gloster is pitted against the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Jeep Grand Cherokee
