Upcoming Tata Altroz hatchback seen in production guise
The Tata Altroz hatchback, the homegrown carmaker's challenger to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Toyota Glanza, has been spotted in what seems like its final production specification. The car still carries quite a bit of camouflage but certain details are quite clear.
The Altroz will be one of the more aggressively styled cars in this segment. The front grille has a slight inward stance to it with wide, swept-back lamps. the unique two-part boot lid replete with the complex three-dimensional detailing of the taillights. A translucent black appliqu runs across the width of the tailgate and connects the lighting elements. The rear diffuser element with a centrally mounted brake lamp is another singular touch. In the side profile, the window line seems to be progressively rising, another unique touch.
The sub-four metre hatch will feature keyless entry and go, 16-inch rims, a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control and body-coloured bezels around the A/C vents. The dashboard has a multi-layered design too and will feature instrumentation similar to the Harrier's - featuring an analogue speedometer and a large multi-info-display for displaying other vehicular data. The infotainment too is similar to the Harrier's albeit smaller in size but with a similar user interface.

The Tata Altroz is based on the Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), now named Alpha and features the brand's Impact 2.0 design philosophy. Engine options will likely include a 1.2-litre N/A petrol and 1.4-litre diesel, both from the Nexon. These should be paired with a five-speed manual and AMT. The Altroz has already been previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and an India launch is expected in the coming months.
