Volkswagen Polo AllStar unveiled in India
Volkswagen India has unveiled the Polo AllStar. This looks like a limited edition model that the carmaker usually brings out during the festive season. The car will be available in five colours, including the blue silk, also seen on the Ameo. The AllStar is based on the Highline edition and is expected to cost around Rs 20,000 more than the regular variant. Volkswagen is expected to announce prices of the Polo AllStar soon.
This is just a cosmetic change which includes the new 15-inch diamond-cut alloys, AllStar badging on the B-pillars, scuff plates and the aluminium pedals. Other new features in the cabin include a stripe for the upholstery, adjustable driver armrest and rear AC vents. Mechanically, the Volkswagen Polo hasn't changed and retains the 75PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 90PS 1.5-litre turbodiesel engines, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. On the same note, the AllStar version will not be available with the 1.0-litre TSI turbopetrol engine or even the 105PS diesel.
Our sources say that the Polo line-up as well as the Vento are set to receive a facelift soon. Yes, yet again! This will include DRLs for the headlamps and touchscreen infotainment system from the Ameo. Except for the badges, the Polos will also receive all the updates from the AllStar edition.
It may be noted that the Polo's engines are still based on the EA189 platform which was in news for having a cheating device that allowed excessive emissions to go unchecked. To this very effect, last-gen Skoda Superbs have been recently recalled in India to fix the issue. More cars are expected to be part of the recall as well. Volkswagen will also be bringing in the new Polo GTI to India. We've driven the car and you can read all about it here.
