Specification comparison: Hero Xtreme 160R vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V vs Bajaj Pulsar NS160 vs Suzuki Gixxer 155 vs Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3.0

Hero MotoCorp. recently launched the Xtreme 160R, its premium offering in the 160cc motorcycle segment, with prices starting from Rs 99,950, ex-showroom. The company had showcased the motorcycle to its Indian audiences at the Hero World 2020 event, which was hosted at the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.While the Xtreme 160R does come with a long list of features, which includes an all-new BSVI compliant engine along with firsts for a Hero MotoCorp motorcycles, it will lock horns with the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuk Gixxer and Yamaha FZ V3.0.

The most powerful motorcycle among these options is the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 with 17.2PS, followed by the TVS Apache RTR 160. Below these two offerings is the Hero Xtreme 160R with its 15PS power output. The Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ V3.0 are behind the Xtreme in the respective order.

While the NS160 continues its lead in the torque rating as well, the Xtreme's 14Nm is achieved at a relatively lower 6,500 rpm compared to Apache RTR 160's 7,250rpm. Similarly, even though the torque numbers of Gixxer and FZ V3.0 are almost identical, the latter achieves it at 500rpm lesser than the Gixxer. All these five motorcycles are offered with a 5-speed gearbox. Hero claims that the Xtreme 160R deliver a class-leading 0 to 60kmph acceleration of 4.7 seconds,

2020 TVS Apache RTR 160 4v BSVI

Features

Starting with the Hero Xtreme160R, it comes with first-in-segment LED package, with full LED headlamp, rear H-signature LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators with hazard light switch.

In the BSVI update, the TVS Apache RTR 140 4V received a sharper headlight design retaining the exposed fully-digital instrumentation positioned above it. The Suzuki Gixxer was updated last year with a LED-headlight and a new taillight. The feature lists consists of an all digital instrumentation and a chunky double-barrel exhaust. The feature list of the BSVI Yamaha FZ V3.0 continues to be the same with an all-LCD display for the instrument cluster and the motorcycle deploys the same cycle parts as before. And lastly the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 that comes with a semi-digital instrumentation.

Pricing

The most premium of the lot is the Suzuki Gixxer priced at Rs 1.13 lakh, while the most affordable is the Hero Xtreme 160R at Rs 99,950. The price difference between these two offerings is around Rs 13,000. The rest of the motorcycles, namely the TVS Apache RTR 160 4v, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the Yamaha FZS-Fi are priced in a similar range of Rs 1.02 lakh to Rs 1.06 lakh.
