Upcoming Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater revealed in design sketches ahead of April 7 debut
Hyundai India has revealed the first design sketches of the Hyundai Alcazar ahead of its global debut in India on April 7. The Alcazar is the seven-seater iteration of the Hyundai Creta and comes with a unique rear section and some more enhancements to the front and on the inside.
The design sketches show that the extended rear section, as seen on test mules, seems to have a boxier look to it. The L-shaped contrasting roof-design element from the Creta seems to have been slimmed down to allow for a quarter-glass for the third-row occupants. The taillamps are also of a larger two-part design, although they carry over the split two-level theme from the Creta. Also seen here is a revised rear bumper with a more prominently styled rear skid-plate, a new alloy wheel design can also be expected.
The Hyundai Alcazar's interiors have also been shown in sketches. Here, the big development is the inclusion of second-row captain's chairs, although the bench seat from the Creta can also be expected in lower variants. The dash-design is largely identical to the Creta but is now finished in a two-tone grey and tan theme, as are the seats. The third-row passengers can expect separate AC vents and charge points. Some added features expected on the Alcazar are 360-degree cameras.
Mechanically, the seven-seater Hyundai Alcazar will likely remain unchanged from the Creta. The engines available are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There are three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. These are a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT.
The Hyundai Alcazar will make its global debut in India in the coming months. We expect this SUV to be priced at Rs 75,000 - Rs 1.2 lakh premium over an equivalent Creta when it launches. The Alcazar will compete with the likes of the MG Hector Plus, the Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass seven-seater.
