Tata Nexon Facelift launched in India for Rs 6.95 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Altroz in India, a premium hatchback that takes on the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo. In addition to that, the company has also launched the Nexon facelift. The prices for the petrol variant start at Rs 6.95 lakh ex-showroom India whereas the diesel sees a price tag of Rs 8.45 lakh ex-showroom India. The petrol variant gets a hike of Rs 22,000 and the diesel variant becomes dearer to its customers by Rs 56,000. Booking of the SUV has already commenced across dealerships in the country. We expect the deliveries to begin shortly.

The updated Nexon features a revised front end in line with Tata Motors' Impact 2.0 design philosophy, which debuted with the Harrier. The headlamps are now seemingly slimmer and wider, placed on either side of a slimmer grille. The bumper is more substantial and angular with a larger air dam. Even the bonnet has been redesigned to be flatter and has a higher edge to it than earlier.

Even the cabin has been updated. Since this is a facelift, the 2020 Tata Nexon retains the dimensions and offers the same cabin space as the previous model. What has changed, however, is the instrumentation which has become semi-digital for a more premium touch. Additionally, the touchscreen infotainment system has become larger offering a better display and more lucid options. Tata Motors has equipped the infotainment with all the connected tech that we witnessed in the Nexon EV, meaning one can get access to multiple options through a mobile application. And lastly, there is a sunroof which should make the cabin feel airier than before. We have always found the cabin of the Nexon generously spacious, the addition of a sunroof is a nice touch.

Mechanically, the compact-SUV now gets BSVI compliant petrol and diesel engines. Both the engines come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The higher trims get an optional automatic transmission (six-speed AMT). The petrol engine produces 110PS at 5,000rpm and 170Nm of torque between 1,750-4,000rpm. The diesel engine has a similar power rating as the petrol but produces 260Nm of torque between 1,500-2,750rpm.
