2019 Geneva Motor Show: 1,900PS Pininfarina Battista can touch 100kmph in less than 2s!

The 2019 Geneva Motor Show has started with a bang as automobile manufacturers line up to showcase their upcoming offerings. Automobili Pininfarina, the Italian automobile brand backed by the Mahindra group, has finally unveiled its first ever supercar called the Battista. Named after the founder of the firm, Battista Farina, the iconic automobile designer, the Automobili Pininfarina Battista will be made only for a select few. 150 units to be precise allocated equally between the regions of North America, Europe and Middle East/Asia.

The company mentions that the Pininfarina Battista will be launched in the production form in 2020 that also happens to be the 90th anniversary of the legendary Pininfarina SpA design house. The Battista will be the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and built in Italy. The team behind building the Battista has also worked on the likes of Bugatti Veyron and Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari Sergio, Lamborghini Urus, McLaren P1, Mercedes AMG-Project One, Pagani Zonda and Porsche Mission E.

It was already known that the power and the torque figures were going to be 1,900PS and 2,300Nm respectively, meaning the Battista has the potential to accelerate to 62 mph in less than two seconds, faster than a Formula 1 car, and break the 250 mph top speed barrier – all with a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles. Pininfarina has confirmed these specs and has also mentioned that the Battista will have a range of 450km in one single charge. Additionally, the weight distribution of the T-shaped 120 kWh battery pack has been done in a way to make the Battisa deliver optimum performance with four motors independently distributing torque and power to each wheel offering the merits of torque vectoring. The cooling circuits and systems are based around five radiators.

The Pininfarina Battista makes use of massive, carbon-ceramic six-piston brakes, 390mm at the front and 390mm at the rear. The supercar also makes use of effective brake regeneration to the battery from the brakes. Also, the active rear wing features an air brake function. The suspension setup on the Battista is electronically adjustable and has various modes for different configurations. Pininfarina mentions that the design of the Battista is inspired and pays homage to designs such as the Cisitalia 202, Ferrari Dino Berlinetta Speciale, Ferrari Modulo, and Sintesi concept car.

"This is the most authentic and exciting automotive story imaginable. The Battista is the hypercar of the future, inspired by a legendary past. It combines true inspiration and innovation in its technical achievement and emotional appeal. Electrification unlocks the door to a new level of performance and a zero-emissions future, whilst a passion and respect for automotive history will define how this landmark car looks and feels. We aim for the Battista to be a future classic and automotive icon, writing its own page in automotive history books," commented Michael Perschke, CEO, Automobili Pininfarina.
