2019 KTM 390 Adventure spied in India again, this time with saddlebags
The KTM 390 Adventure is definitely...definitely...the most awaited motorcycle of this year. We got our first glimpse of KTM's junior ADV offering last month when the elusive KTM 390 Adventure in its near production-ready guise was spotted on Indian roads. And now there are more images of it, revealing more details about the design and also the luggage system mounted on the motorcycle. KTM had already confirmed that 390 Adventure will go on sale in India in 2019, we did expect the production version to make a debut at the EICMA 2018 show, which didn't happen.
Coming to the latest set of images, the 2019 KTM 390 Adventure retains the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels that were seen on the previously spied test motorcycle. The details of the tyres have now been revealed as the Continental TKC 70 offers 60 per cent on-road and 40 per cent off-road capability and also comes with higher mileage. More importantly, the spied 2019 KTM Adventure is equipped with saddlebags along with a top box, all in camouflage, which could be offered as a part of official accessory package by KTM. This, we believe, is being done to test the 390 Adventure's riding dynamics and handling under fully loaded condition.
Compared to the KTM 390 Duke, the Adventure gets a new fairing, beefed-up trellis frame with a rear subframe that is bolted on just like on the current 390, both RC and Duke. The engine, of course, is the same 43.5PS 373cc single-cylinder from the KTM 390 Duke. We don't believe KTM will make major updates to this ride-by-wire engine and we expect to see the final drive (front and rear sprockets) to be adjusted to the role of the motorcycle. If KTM is very serious about the off-road ability of the 390 Adventure, it might choose to lower the gearing selection for the first and second gears. The 2019 KTM 390 Adventure will compete with the likes of the BMW G 310 GS, Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Kawasaki Versys X-300.
