BSVI Honda SP 125 launched in India - Prices start at Rs 72,900

Honda two-wheelers India has made its BSVI portfolio stronger by launching the SP 125 commuter motorcycle in India. The SP 125 has been launched in two variants - Drum brake-equipped and an optional disc brake-equipped variant. The former is priced at Rs 72,900 while the latter sees a sticker price of Rs 77,100 - both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The SP 125 is dearer by almost Rs 9,000 over the Honda CB Shine SP 125 that it succeeds.

The SP 125 gets a 124cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, and the power is rated at 10.8PS at 6,500rpm and 10.9Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The power rating is slightly higher and the peak power comes in early in the rev range. For carburettor, SP125 gets electronic fuel injection. The engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. However, the cycle parts majorly remain same as the Shine SP 125. 240mm disc in the front and a 130mm drum brake assembly in the rear, whereas the drum brake variant gets 130mm drum brake assembly on both ends with CBS.

Along with the drivetrain update, the SP125 gets new styling features to set it apart from the Honda CB Shine SP 125. The headlamp assembly and cowl get a redesign. The fuel tank gets beefy panels. The rear cowl and tail section gets redesigned panels as well. The alloy wheels sport a new design as well. The instrument cluster is an all-digital unit with first in class features like distance to empty, gear position indicator, and service due indicator. The SP 125 also gets an ACG starter that we first saw on the Honda Activa 125 Fi in September. Honda has also done integrated the starter button and engine kill button in one toggle switch.

Honda also offers a three-year standard warranty on the motorcycle but can be extended up to six years for an additional cost. The Honda SP 125 rivals the Bajaj Pulsar 125, Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Glamour Fi.
