Race-spec TVS Apache RR 310: Everything you needed to know

TVS created the Race-spec Apace 310 RR for its one-make series where 12 racers will compete over 5 rounds for the title. If you remember, TVS also created the race version of its RTR 200 which was updated this year. We have already ridden the race-spec TVS Apache RR 310 on the Kari Motor Speedway.  So how does the stock RR 310 become the Race-spec?

TVS updated the stock bike with neatly designed vinyls that carry a large TVS Racing logo on the side of the motorcycle with the race number just underneath. It's a good addition that breaks up the all-red bodywork of the RR 310. TVS also added covers on the lenses at the front and rear in matched red and added blank-out plates at the mirror mounts.

Rider ergonomics

How the rider sits is important - it determines how he received the motorcycle's feedback, his riding position, ground clearance in the corners etc. To that end TVS Racing added a long subframe that moves the footpegs back and up considerably. The handlebar is unchanged but TVS Racing confirms that it will lower the front-end further for more agility on the bigger circuits.

Engine

The engine on the Race-space RR 310 is not different from stock in major hardware terms.

The engine on the Race-space RR 310 is not different from stock in major hardware terms. It remains a 313.4cc fuel-injected single. However, TVS does add a race ECU. B Selvaraj, team manager, TVS Racing says the race ECU pushes the redline past the stock 10,500rpm and accommodates the extra flow from the performance air filter. Also new is the thin, light and extremely loud TVS Racing exhaust. TVS says the race tune produces 38PS at 10,300rpm via a larger 40mm throttle body for the fuel injection system. Top speed is now 175kmph! That said, as race-bikes are won't to do, the speedo readout is covered - it serves no use to a racer and is an added distraction.

Frame, brakes and tyres

TVS made comprehensive ch... no they didn't. The Race-spec motorcycle runs the same tyres - Michelin Pilot Street, same brakes with ABS and the same frame as stock.
